Services

Acupuncture is not the only Chinese medicine practice. Cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, and Chinese nutrition therapy are combined with acupuncture to deliver effective treatments to treat a wide array of conditions and symptoms. Read about these modalities below and learn how acupuncture can treat different types of conditions.

Using very fine needles, various acupuncture points are stimulated to heal and restore the body, mind, and spirit. Depending on the nature of symptoms, the practitioner may recommend more frequent treatments in the beginning, and then fewer treatments as progress is made.

Using specialized cups to create a vacuum on specific areas of the body. The cups are applied directly to the skin and the underlying tissue is drawn into the cup.  Cupping can relieve muscular tension, move stagnation, and support relaxation.

Moxa

Moxibustion is a healing practice that involves heating acupuncture points by safely burning an herb close to, or directly on the skin. This treatment adds warmth and nourishment to the body and can be used to treat a variety of conditions including gynecological issues, headaches, cold limbs, back pain, anxiety, and more.

Gua Sha

This technique can improve circulation and address symptoms such as chronic pain. This treatment uses a unique tool to break up stagnation by quickly rubbing the skin to produce light redness. Although the redness will go away, the pain relief can last.

Nutrition

Chinese nutrition therapy is a great way to take a closer look at what we eat. While Western nutrition categorizes foods by nutrients, Chinese nutritional therapy emphasizes the qualitative effects of foods on the body. By assessing the nature of the patient’s qi energy, the practitioner can recommend foods as mild therapeutics to help the patient’s energy remain in balance and keep them in health.

Acupuncture for Pain and Injuries

Pain and injuries are some of the most common reasons that people seek acupuncture. And for good reason! Acupuncture is excellent for treating pain and for helping injuries heal. Pain typically results because of a block in the normal, free flow of qi. To treat an injury, an acupuncturist will use points to help to restore free flow of qi and thus, alleviate pain. You may even notice a reduction in pain after your first treatment, and it typically takes about four acupuncture treatments to begin to notice significant, lasting relief.

Acupuncture for Fertility

Often referred to acupuncture by their medical doctor, acupuncture can be used for fertility and reproductive health before, during, and after pregnancy. Men can also benefit from the use of acupuncture for fertility. By selecting and needling various points, an acupuncturist can help support both the male and female reproductive systems in preparing for, maintaining, and supporting a pregnancy.

Acupuncture for Dermatology

Try acupuncture for acne and other dermatological conditions! Stimulating various points can help clear toxins and impurities from the skin, as well as treat other underlying conditions that result in blemishes on the face and body. Auricular acupuncture

Using very fine needles, acupuncture points on the ears are stimulated to heal and restore the body, mind, and spirit. These auricular points correspond to various parts of the body including organs and body systems. These points can be done independently or in conjunction with points located on the body. In addition to treating physical conditions, these auricular points are excellent for supporting the mind and emotions, as well as detoxification.
